The word film refers to the motion pictures that are captured as a visual form of art and expresses the story, ideas, perception, and feelings. The word cinema is the short form of cinematography and that also indicates the film making industry. Worldwide different types of film making festivals are being held, which are very popular among the people. Different types of filmmaking festivals are arranged in Bangladesh just like the other countries of the world. A biennial film-making festival that takes part in Dhaka is the 'Dhaka International Film Festival'. It is a type of festival in which the presentations of different types of film are done. The film festival is running for a quite long time. It was established in 1992 and the event was organized annually, but due to some of the reasons, it is needed to make the biennial event in 1995. Dhaka international film festival is one of the most prestigious and high demanding film festivals in the country. The main aim of this film festival is to introduce Global trending and mainstream cinema to the local filmmakers.


In this way, they can gain the knowledge and experience to develop the quality of their work. It is very much essential to gain knowledge before making something that attracts the people to watch the film. The motive of this international film festival is to share the theme of quality full film so that our healthy film culture can prevail in our country. One of the important people and the founder of this festival is Ahmed Muztaba Zamal. He is the owner of 'Rainbow Film Society' created 12 editions of this event which are internationally recognized. The authority of the festival chooses and invited Asian and Australian films to participate in the different sections of the award. There is a total of 6 sections. Of them, which includes retrospectives, the cinema of the world, women filmmakers, children's film, short and independent, spiritual films. The festival is dedicated to featuring films only and a total of five international jury board judges the film. The international jury board is composed of the international jury committee select one Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Script and Best Cinematographer. The award consists of certificates and crest while the best film world carries the 10 lakh taka. As this is a prestigious and much important film festival, so it is the important center of attraction for the general people, actors, directors, and the film industry's related people.
