Finally, in light of the long-standing demands of the people of this region, the dream that was dreamed of was fulfilled on August 25, 1986. Shahjalal University of Science and Technology was established.

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology is one of the public universities of the country, the green land of natural beauty, this university officially started its journey on 320 acres of land on February 14, 1991. The country's first university of science and technology started its journey with three departments, 13 teachers, and 205 students in a shady and beautiful environment 6 km away from Sylhet city.

Digital University

It is the first university in the country to rely on science and technology, known as the digital university of Bangladesh. Apart from science and technology, the university has an aesthetically green campus surrounded by natural forests.

The main gate of the university is next to Sylhet-Sunamganj road. The natural beauty of the aesthetic campus starts from here. As soon as you enter through the gate, you will be mesmerized by the rows of mahogany, Kadai, jarul, and coconut trees on either side of the road. The length of the road from the gate to the roundabout is one kilometer. To everyone, it is known as Ekkilo. Dividers have been made by planting Nageshwar trees along the middle of Ekkilo Road. The eye-catching lake on both sides of the road has made the campus even more attractive.

On the east side, there is the residence of the Vice-Chancellor, dormitory, guest house, and on the west side, there is the university school and the central mosque at MA Wazed Miah IICT Building. At the very end of the roundabout. There is a mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and a huge flower garden, passenger camp, and administrative building. Surrounded by lush green forests and hills, nature seems to have multiplied its beauty. There is a beautiful Shaheed Minar on the top of the hill of our campus in the green forest surrounded by hills and in the middle of the university there is a sculpture of the liberation war 'Chetna 71'. .

Everywhere you look on campus is green and green. Stunning natural beauty will fascinate anyone. One of the attractions of the university is the Triangular Central Library, the vast playground, the largest auditorium in Sylhet, the aesthetic education building, the residential hall surrounded by hills. The night campus of the university is decorated extraordinarily. Those who are in the hall can enjoy this beauty. A pair of red, blue, and green lights sit all-around at night. Apart from reading, there are discussions on chats, songs, debates, dramas, sports, and contemporary issues. The campus is full of sports and chats in front of the hall at night. There is a large cafeteria for students to hang out and eat and small tongs scattered throughout the campus. In this green campus surrounded by our mountains, everyone is practicing free knowledge in their minds. Anyone would want to come back to this campus once in a while.
