It is the dwelling of different religious and cultural people, so every people residing in the country can easily enjoy their festival or ritual by their community people and also people other than their community. Among them, some of the widely popular festivals that take place are in Dhaka. One of the enthusiastic festivals among the people of Dhaka is the Shakrain. The meaning of the Shakrain festival is the kite or ghoori festival. This is an annual festival and it is mainly concerned with the flying of kites. This festival is mainly celebrated at the last of the ninth month of the Bengali calendar. The mentioned month is Poush and the program is known as Poush Sankranti, which means the ending of Poush month. According to the Gregorian calendar, the date is around 14 or 15 of January month. This festival holds the history of a very long time it signifies the love friendship and unity of the people living in the society. As Dhaka city is divided into two parts, mostly the program is arranged and celebrated in the southern part of the City.
