There are different types of festival is celebrated around the world. They have got their different purposes. One of the most important and Joyous festival of Christian religion is the Christmas. This festival is mainly based on the birthday of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Jewish preacher and religious leader. He is the central figure of this religion. The followers of Christian religion worship him as the son of god. The Christian people believe that Jesus was crucified and killed.They mourn from their heart for this incident. Based on the messianic prophecies, when Mary and Joseph came to the city there were no available rooms in the inn. They took shelter in the stable and the Jesus Christ was born.

It is said that the angels let the shepherd new about the news and the shepherd then passed the news to the people. The date of birth of Jesus Christ is not known, but in the early 4th century the date is fixed as 25th December by the church. The most Christian people follow the Gregorian calendar and it is regarded as the standard calendar for different places of the country. Some of the Eastern Church follow the Julian calendar and celebrate this day on 25th December which is the 7th January according to the Gregorian calendar. Christian people believe that the God has come to the earth in a form of man to save the people and atone for their sins But according to the Islam religion he is known as the prophet Isa (A). He was sent to spread the message of Islam among the people of that time.

This festival is celebrated every year on the 25th December in different countries of the world. This day is only celebrated by billions of people with great enthusiasm and interest. The day is declared as the public holiday in the different countries of the world. The Christian people celebrate this day as their religious function. This day is also celebrated by different non-christian people as a part of the culture in their country.This day is also known as the Xmas day. On the occasion of this date different types of arrangement can be seen from the shop,home, educational institution, working place to the streets and locality gets the color and amazement of the Christmas day.

During the Christmas the educational institution are declared with the holiday notice, but the students of these organizations tried their best decorate their institution with beautiful and colorful papers. Students work in a group to decorate their classrooms. The shopkeepers try to decorate with colorful papers and also set Christmas tree in front of their showroom. During this time many local and International Shop what are the brands tries to provide the sale and give the product to the customers with the minimum amount of price. Huge crowd can be seen in the different showroom to buy new clothes,accessories, electronic gadgets and different useful products. In Bangladesh the scenario is a kind of different, though Christian people are not in a large group in Bangladesh.

Christmas Day in celebrated in the different churches of the country. There is not large number of churches in Bangladesh. The number of priest is also limited. But there are some of the Christian based organization such as school- college, health care and the charitable organization. They also maintain orphan and old age home. As this is the public holiday Christian people visit the church and complete the rituals. They also visit the friend and house with the family. The people make different types of cake, pastry, sweet items. They also share the foods with their neighbors overcoming the bindings about the religion. They also feed the poor people in the locality. Some people are seen to be offering clothes to the poor people on the occasion of this day.

There are large numbers of 5 star hotels in Bangladesh; they arrange different types of program for the Christmas Day celebration. In some cases the celebration last for 7 days. They decorate the whole place with colorful crystal papers. They try to set a large Christmas tree. Now a days people give each other gifts and cards on the occasion of Christmas. The gift box chocolates are restored under the Christmas tree. The people visiting the place can take a box the gift. Insome of the countries people think that the Santa Claus will accept their wish and give them the thing that they wanted. In that case the government recruits the people and gives the dress of Santa Claus.

They roam around the locality at the night of Christmas give gifts for the people. In this case the funding is provided by the government. Though this is the festival of the Christian people but the people living around from another religion also enjoy the vibes and celebration of Christmas. In this way bonding is created among the people of the community.
