History of Feni District
Feni is also a district of Chittagong Division and it is located in the south-eastern part of this area. It is at the position of nine from the viewpoint of most populous districts lists in the division as it has an estimated population of 1,437,371.

Feni is also a district of Chittagong Division and it is located in the south-eastern part of this area. It is at the position of nine from the viewpoint of most populous districts lists in the division as it has an estimated population of 1,437,371. The district was established in 1984. The district consists of two municipalities, six Upazilas, 45 union parishads, 540 Mouzas, 27 wards, 51 mahallas, and 570 villages. Feni is the oldest municipality in this region that was established in 1958. It has Noakhali and Chittagong Districts at the south, Comilla District and Tripura at the north, Noakhali District at the west, and Tripura State of India at the east.History
In old times, the area was at the port of the sea but at the north-east side, there were hilly regions. Wise people think of Feni as an ancient terrain of greater Noakhali at the east. There are ruins of historical rocky-idol at Shilua village of Chagolnaiya Upazila. For having this rocky idol, the place has been regarded as Shilua or Shilla. According to Dr, Ahamed Sharif, in ancient times everything in Noakhali apart from the Feni region, were lower marshlands. At that time, Valua ( ancient name of Nokjal and Jugudiya( a place in the sea) were looked like islands.Google map: click here
