This edifice is situated in the premise of Dhaka university. It is located at the south of the famous Doyel Chattar, beside Curzon Hall. Another mosque called Shahbaz Khan Mosque is also situated near this place.A short History
In the medieval age, Bengal was ruled by 12 landlords popularly known as 'Baro-Bhuyan'.Isa khan was one of that Baro Bhuyans.Isa khan was a Muslim Rajput commander. He was a prominent Landlord in the Bengal region. It is said that This mosque was built by Musa khan who was the son of Isha Khan. It can't be surely said that exactly when this mosque was built. After the death of Isa khan, his son Musa Khan took over the control of his father's lands and maintained his legacy. He also fought with the Mughals. Musa khan fought against the Mughal forces with the assistance of other prominent landlords of Bengal. Although after the fall of Sonargaon, he had to surrender. We all know that domes are a part and parcel of Muslim culture. This mosque is also not different. It has three domes. these domes were built on a Vaulted platform of 3 meters in height approximately. In terms of width, it varies from 17 meters to 14 meters. A series of rooms can be found in this mosque which is being decayed. The middle dome is the largest of all. The grave of Musa khan is near the mosque. It is located on the northeast side of the mosque. There are four octagonal corner towers too. The Mosque built on a raised platform is the depiction of 'Shaistakhani style' architecture. This mosque needs renovation as it has become too shabby. As the structure is one of the rarest Mughal structures in Bangladesh and this place is historically very important, if it is maintained properly, it can attract more tourists for its magnificent architecture and important history.How to go there
This place is situated in the southern part of Dhaka. It is in the Dhaka University area. So at first Dhaka university has to be reached from any part of Dhaka by bus or taxi. After reaching the Dhaka university campus, the mosque can be reached by walking or taking paddle rickshaws.
